Contacts Tool allows you to export all my address book, or selected records in seven different formats: Binary, TXT, HTML, LDIF (data interchange format LDAP), CSV (Comma Separated Values), MS Windows and vCard. Exported files can be easily transferred to a PC or Mac via WiFi or 3G/EDGE using the built-server network, or via e-mail (*). Files can also be sent directly to another iPhone or iPod via WiFi, 3G/EDGE or Bluetooth (**). Receiving device must include the Contact Tools and run through a web server or a Bluetooth server. Contact Tools can import files in LDIF format and Binary.
On the Contact Tools everyone can:
- Send all address book or just a few records to another iPhone / iPod and import records to obtain the device.
- Save an entire book in LDIF format for backup purposes.
- Create a file of HTML (including contact photos) to view the web-browser.
- Create a text file (no pictures of contacts) for editing or printing on the PC / Mac.
- Because LDIF is supported by a large number of applications, your contacts can be imported by other products currently not supported by iTunes.
- Contacts of the applications PC / Mac, which support the format of LDIF, can be transferred to iPhone / iPod.
Contacts Tool also allows you to remove the entire address book or a number of selected records from separate Delete button (plus key verification). Backup file is automatically created during this process. Deleted records can be restored by importing the backup file.
With the Contacts Tool, you can also control groups. Groups can be created and deleted. Contacts can be added and removed from groups. Export groups supported.
You can also perform a modification of telephone numbers (very handy for travelers). Coming to another country for example you can add international dialing prefix for their phone numbers to be able to call home. On his return can not all be removed.
(*) E-mail requires a minimum of iOS 3.0
(**) Bluetooth file transfer requires a minimum of iOS 3.0 and iPhone 3G/3GS, or iPod Touch second generation.
In the new version:
