How to Read Faster
There are hundreds of techniques you could learn to help your read faster, but I know of three that are especially good
The first one is Preview
Previewing is especially useful for getting a general idea of heavy reading like long magazine or newspaper articles. Here how to preview: read the entire first two paragraph, then read only the first sentence of each successive paragraph, then read entire the last two paragraph
There's a better technique for short, light reading
The second one is Skim
Skimming is a good way to get a general idea of light reading, like popular magazines or entertainment sections of the paper. Here how to skim: think of your eyes as magnets. Force them to move fast. Sweep them across each and every line of type. Pick up only a few key words in each line. but remember everybody skims differently
The third one is Cluster
Clustering trains you to look at groups of words instead of one at time to increase your speed enormously. Here how to cluster: Train your eyes to see all the words in clusters of up to three or four words at a glance. Practice fifteen minutes every day and you might pick up a technique in a week or so, but don't be disappointed if it takes longer
